Heikki Tuuri Founder, Innobase Oy

Heikki Tuuri (born 1964 in Helsinki, Finland) is the founder of Innobase Oy and leads the development of the InnoDB transactional engine. He holds a PhD degree in mathematical logic from the University of Helsinki, 1990.

During 1988-92 he held various research and teaching positions at the Dept. of Mathematics. Heikki Tuuri started his career in database industry in 1992-93 when he was employed by Solid Information Technology, Ltd. During 1993-95 he worked at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki, doing research on high performance database technology.

In 1995 Heikki Tuuri founded Innobase Oy to develop InnoDB, a high performance transactional database engine. In September 2000 Innobase Oy started collaboration with MySQL AB, which resulted in the release of MySQL+InnoDB in March 2001.
